Community Program: competition among Del Webb Softball Club members

League:   Monday and Thursday morning league play. Leagues are open to all club members. League teams rosters are set in                          September, December and May.12-game seasons are played followed by a tournament.

Ladies:      From May through August, ladies have intramural games on Wednesday mornings and                                 Instructional sessions on Saturday mornings.  All ladies are welcome.

Travel Program:  competition against teams from other communities in the area

Men:      We field 5-6 teams in the Sun & Fun league that includes ~40 teams from 16 communities. Divisions are based on skill                 level.  Games are on Tuesday and Friday morning.  We also field a team in the Classics League (70 or older) that plays                  Tuesday and Friday afternoons. During the summer, we field 1-2 teams in the Sun & Fun and in 1 team in the Tri-County                 55 league.

Ladies:  We field 3 teams in the Tri-County Golden Ladies league.  Games are on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.Evaluations are held and rosters are set for travel teams in September.

You must be a club member to participate in the Community League or the Travel Program.

But, if you’d like to get a taste for playing softball again, come down to the field for the Sunday hit-around.  There is often an instructional session on Sundays as well.  Check the field schedule for times, as they vary during the year.

You don’t have to play ball to be a club member We have members who run the scoreboard or umpire.  Some help in the concession stand.  Still others are just loyal fans.  All are welcome!

Your Responsibility

Commitment: If you play on a Travel Team, you must be committed to the league.  A team needs to know that you will show up. Injuries, family illness and personal problems will frequently occur and that is understandable, but tee times, bowling, etc. are not an acceptable reason to miss a game.

Equipment:  You will need a glove.  Rubber cleats are recommended.  Metal cleats are not allowed. There will be a team bat but players might consider purchasing a personal bat.  Trying someone else’s personal bat, with their permission, is fine; but using someone else’s bat on a regular basis is inappropriate.

Practice:  In addition to regularly scheduled practices, the field is available for you to use to improve your skills.  Check the field schedule at the website for available times. We are proud of the fact that we do not draw upon the HOA for our expenses.  We maintain the field ourselves and raise money that we invest in upgrading the softball complex.  We depend upon our club members to help out at the field, in the concession stand and at our fundraisers. Local businesses contribute a sizable amount to cover the cost of our uniforms.  We recognize our responsibility to represent them, as well as the Del Webb Softball Club, in our decorum, appearance and good sportsmanship.
